Review- National Geographic Kid Level Readers

AllBooksMarina and I have had the fun opportunity to review National Geographic’s Kid Level Readers. And are absolutely thrilled with them!

Just the facts

  • NGK developed this series with experts in literacy education

  • The books are filled with amazing color photos, facts, and fun on every page and feed a child’s natural curiosity about the world and curiosity is a powerful motivation for reading.

  • They are sprinkled with subject-related jokes and puns because laughing helps kids learn.

  • The books feature eye-popping illustrations, bold, bright text, and colorful boxes and callouts that encourage your child to look at the whole page.

  •  Every page of the book challenges the child to interact with it to keep your child interested.

  • Kids can download free posters, sticker sheets, and other prizes and activities as they chart their own reading accomplishments on the NGK website.

These readers are absolutely wonderful! The pages just pop with color as you can see in the pictures.

Marina was completely engaged by these books. The content grabbed her attention, the pictures and illustrations were bright and colorful. She couldn’t get enough of them. I loved that the reader levels were clearly shown on the front cover. She was able to go through at least one of them on her own.  We are looking forward to adding more of these books to her library.
You can find out more about the fantastic books on their website.

Studio Fun International and ASPCA Team up for a Fun Book Series #StudioFun #MomsMeet

Studio Fun International has teamed up with with the ASPCA to published a children’s book series – ASPCA kids: Rescue Readers

ASPCA-1These stories are inspired by a real-life animal rescue from the pet’s point of view and includes facts and photographs of the actual pet that inspired the story. The books create a fun and educational hands-on experience written at a Level 2 reading level for early readers. The importance of care, protection, and love of animals is incorporated into each tale and focuses on the joyous outcome. 4-5% of the purchase price of each book is given directly to the ASPCA. The books are available in paperback, hardcover, and e-books. Paperbacks are priced at $3.99 ea. or  you can get the complete set for $15.96!

ASPCA-2Marina loves to read so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review these books with her.  The illustrations were beautiful and helped keep her attention while I read the books to her. She loved pointing out all of the cats in Daisy’s book and asks to read that one every night so far. The reading level is easy for her to understand when we read them together. These  books are great for young readers. I love that they are based on the true rescues of these animals and that a portion of the sales of these books go toward helping more animals like them.

Review – Alphablock Board Book

AlphaBlock

  •   Title: Alphablock
  • Author: Christopher Franceschelli
  • ISBN: 978-1419709364
  • Age Range: 1 – 4 years old

Blurb: With thick pages cut into the shape of each letter, children and parents will enjoy this peek-through guessing game around the letterform itself. MarinaBook1Sprinkles, hot fudge, and cherries hint at I’s ice cream sundae, while aquarium accessories hint at F’s fish. As readers interact with the pages, they will familiarize themselves not only with the 26 letters and associated words, but also with each letter’s physicality—angles, holes, and curves, both front and back. With Peskimo’s animated, stylish visuals, this fresh ABC book encourages readers to manipulate the alphabet in a whole new way.

Note: illustrations have a retro feel, with imperfect variations in color and texture.

Marinabook2Review:

Marina received this book as a gift and we both love it. The book is colorful and sturdy. We both love the cutout alphabet and she gets excited when we reveal what the letter stands for. The illustrations are beautiful, I absolutely love the whimsical designs. Marina loves the textures and colors and it really holds her attention. She enjoys touching and turning the pages herself. She also enjoys just looking at the front and back cover just to see what she can find. As we read the book, it prompts her to try to repeat both the letter and the object after me. Reading Alphablock has become a part of our bedtime routine. I definitely recommend this book and will be adding other books by this author to Marina’s collection.

New Weekly Feature :)

I’m starting a new feature to showcase some of my book cover designs and artwork.  My first feature is The Aviary by Wayne Greenough. I had a lot of fun designing this one. Loved that I could do something a little creepy.

  The Aviary

 Written By: Wayne Greenough
 Published by: Devine Destinies
 ISBN #:978-1-77111-834-7

Stacey Ryan and Jim Turner thought their latest scam was a lead pipe cinch for them. The Aviary proved otherwise.

Doris Meadows had twelve million dollars, a mansion, a bird aviary, and a very bad heart. All Stacey Ryan had to do was to marry her and wait for her heart to give out. It was all very simple. Or was it?

You can Purchase The Aviary HERE.
